This simple Oregon elopement was the perfect reminder as to why couples choose to have these intimate wedding days. I work with many couples who invite guests to their elopements. I love working with small groups, but Mindy and Tara’s “just us” elopement reminded me how incredible solo elopements are as well.
Elopement in Bend, Oregon
Bend is a small mountain town located in Central Oregon. My favorite thing about this location is the diverse amount of landscapes in and surrounding it. Alpine lakes are all over throughout the Sisters Wilderness and Cascades Lakes Scenic Byway. Waterfalls through the Willamette National Forest. Desert all around, and then moss and greenery as soon as you head towards the Willamette Pass.
This was perfect for the plans Mindy and Tara had for their Oregon elopement. It was April, which can still be cold. Mindy dreamed of being married in the snow, but they didn’t want to spend their whole day in it. To our own luck, we got sun at their lower elevation elopement location, and got snow as we went higher up to an alpine lake!
Oregon Elopement Timeline
Mindy and Tara started their day by going to the soaking pools. Following that, they got breakfast and began getting ready. The two opted to do their own makeup but go to the salon and get blow-outs. Next, we went to their ceremony location, Indian Ford Meadows. The ceremony was just them, as I’m an ordained officiant. They read their vows together and we signed the paperwork! Right next to the ceremony location, we hired my favorite picnic vendor to set up a boho cocktail hour for them. They ate, popped champagne, played games, and had their first dance in the meadow.
After this, we continued their Oregon elopement by stopping in the nearby western themed town, Sisters. We went to “The Barn” and got pizza and ciders. They spent some time enjoying the fire pit and sun before moving on. Last, but not least. We headed up towards Suttle Lake. It’s here that we climbed in elevation and Mindy got her dream of being in snow on her wedding day. The best of both worlds with the sun and snow.
