Todd lake engagement session

This Bend, Oregon engagement session highlighted everything there is to love about the state. The tall pine trees, wildflowers, alpine lakes, and mountains peaking out. For this engagement session, Meghan and Colin wanted to frolic through flowers and have a picnic. More importantly, they actually wanted to get in the water for their Bend Oregon Engagement Session.

There were a few things to consider when determining location. As an engagement and elopement photographer, I help my clients find the perfect location as well as help them secure permits. We needed a place where they could get in the water. A lot of the lakes in Bend, Oregon, are glacial. So we decided on Todd Lake as I knew it was incredibly shallow so the sun has time to heat it up during the day. It also has a ton of wildflowers in July.

About Bend Oregon Engagement Sessions

You can pick from a vast amount of beautiful hikes and landscapes for your Bend Oregon engagement session. The Cascade Lakes Scenic byway has 17 lakes alone. All different and gorgeous. Some boast bright blue beautiful water. Some are clear and deep. Others have waterfalls or wild flowers. Most importantly, (in my humble opinion) some have mountain views.

The views of Mt. Bachelor, Broken top, The 3 Sisters, and more are unbeatable. We also have desert landscapes, and beautiful forested areas. Not to mention the green terrain throughout the Willamette National Forest. Another thing to consider when picking your location is the weather. We have tons of sunny days in Bend. Additionally, very little rain. Meaning your shoot likely won’t be canceled due to rain. Another reason why a Bend Oregon engagement session is a GREAT choice.

Although, being in elevation some of these places aren’t accessible until mid-june. And if we’re unlucky, we will have wildfire smoke in July. That’s also the time that wildflowers are at their peak. Autumn is another great time to shoot here because the weather is cooler. There are less tourists, and snow has yet to come and block any roads or hikes.

The Engagement Photos at Todd Lake

Meghan and Colin were so much fun to work with at their Bend, Oregon engagement session. First we explored that trails and just got a ton of candids of them having a good time together. Don’t worry, I take care of all of the posing and make sure it feels like we’re all just hanging out. Following that, we set up a picnic near the wild flowers and shot around there. Meghan brought such cute props and great cheese.

Finally, we wen’t to the lake. That’s when they actually got in and splashed around the water. It ended up being incredibly warm. We wanted to shoot until sunset so it had the entire day to warm up. The Bend, Oregon engagement session was a blast and I loved shooting with them. Scroll on to see how the pictures turned out!
