This picnic engagement session in Saguaro Park was a boho dream. This couple loves traveling and getting outside. They have a converted van and get out on the road as often as possible. They wanted their picnic engagement session to emulate that. When trying to think of a location, they knew they wanted privacy and big cactus. Well, there are huge cacti in Saguaro National Park. Although, that doesn’t leave a ton of room for privacy.
I instead did some location scouting, and found some BLM land. This BLM is covered in Saguaro cactus and we didn’t see a single other person out there. That being said, this was the perfect location for my engagement clients. I got to the BLM and found an open space, and sent them a pin. Next, we set up the picnic!
The Picnic
For this picnic engagement session we used some boho rugs that we found at a thrift shop. We also got some glasses, vases, pom pom grass, and even used some of the stuff we found laying around the BLM land. The picnic ended up being a beautiful set up. We brought a Polaroid camera and I even took pictures of them taking photos of one another! Which was adorable by the way.
We started shooting just with the cactus. As the sun started to go down, we moved to the picnic. Shooting in harsh light is never a good idea. Which is why we started using the shade from the cactus around us. But once the sun slowly set, it was beautiful everywhere. The picnic engagement session in Saguaro park was both beautiful and a blast. You can tell by their pictures that they had an amazing time shooting this idea.
